Mel Brestel is an independent mental health therapist who specializes in facilitating change for individuals facing challenges in their daily lives. Ms. Brestel pursues new therapeutic avenues for individuals that are suffering due to longstanding, as well as acute problems. Mel has a proven record of success with presenting problems of depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and co-occurring problems.

Ms. Brestel’s practice includes an emphasis on chemical dependency evaluations for juveniles and adults, including court-ordered assessments. Mel can provide these assessments at her office, and will see clients that are detained in total confinement settings. Ms. Brestel is known for completing reports promptly, and when called upon, explaining her findings and recommendations in court.

In addition to assessment and therapy services, Ms. Brestel provides training to professionals and community groups on topics such as suicide intervention, crisis management, and Intentional Care Standards. She has served on the United Way’s Speaker’s Bureau as an expert in depression, anxiety, and chemical dependency.
